Procedures

Healing Waters, Incorporated Practice Procedures

  1. First contact. All calls are screened and deleted daily. First contact with Dr. K. involves making a request for service by phone or e-mail.  This is accomplished by leaving your name, a callback number, name of person or doctor who referred you, and stating you are requesting services by phone or using the e-mail below. By law, doctors or others do not pay for referrals. Screened referrals come from state and local resources, trade associations, judges, lawyers, the court system, colleagues, physicians, priests, ministers and customers who are sincere about pursuing therapy. Please, do not waste my time.
  2. First consultation is free. You will receive further screening to discuss whether the psychologist can assist you with your problem or issue. If I can help we will make an appointment for 2 to 21/2 hours to go over practice policies and sign an informed consent form. Discuss how we can use the mask and maintain the six foot distance. This session is free.
  3. Nature of psychotherapy and group therapy. Both therapeutic modalities are proven to be highly effective in implementing change and is medicinal free. Group therapy is cost-effective.
  4. Nature of Consulting Services. Consultant services is the sharing of seasoned wisdom.
  5. Informed consent. All relationships between the doctor and the customer begins with informed consent. The document is about five to six pages long, is developed by the psychologist for the customer and their particular situation. It is a legal document and required by law. It is explained to customer, and then signed and dated by both the psychologist and the customer. A copy is given to customer to keep. The informed consent document is not a certificate or list of names and numbers. The document defines the professional relationship and parameters, the treatment plan, the diagnosis (with proof if any), among other things. Informed consent permits Dr. K to render therapy and other psychological services to the customer. No services will be rendered until informed consent form is signed and dated.
  6. Payment for services. Payment for service is paid before therapist renders service.
  7. Negotiation of fees. Dr. K. negotiates fees with the poor. She will use a sliding scale and carefully assess the need and desire for service. Paying customers can pay by cash, check, credit card or insurance reimbursement.
  8. Appointment cancellation. 24 hours’ notice without an excuse. You are an adult and responsible for your own health. If your mental health is not important to you, then you will not respond to therapy. Without  24 hours’ notice, you will be billed the standard fee: $100/hour and sent a billing invoice three times. Unpaid bills will not be sent to a collection agency. Services will be held until bill is paid in full, make pay arrangements or have extenuating circumstances.
  9. Applied research with human subjects. I conduct scientific and medical research with qualified doctoral research scientists, only. Amateur researchers need my personal permission to use me in any of their 'research studies'. Before conducting and professional research, all research involves developing and creating an informed consent document. The informed consent document stops abusive, Nazi experimentation on human beings. We did learn something from WWII.
